Position: MEAL Officer
Contract: One-year (Renewable based on funding)
Remuneration: Competitive and commensurate with experience

Position Summary

The MEAL Officer will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining effective monitoring and evaluation systems to track the Foundation’s program performance. This role will ensure that data-driven insights are used to enhance project quality, accountability, and learning across all initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) systems, frameworks, and tools to assess project effectiveness.
  • Track progress toward project goals and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quantitative and qualitative data to inform decision-making.
  • Coordinate routine monitoring visits, surveys, and assessments in project communities.
  • Ensure accountability mechanisms are in place, including feedback and complaint channels.
  • Support proposal development with relevant M&E inputs and indicators.
  • Facilitate learning sessions and produce evidence-based reports to inform programming.
  • Train staff and volunteers on M&E tools and data management practices.
  • Prepare regular MEAL reports for management, donors, and partners.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Development Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in M&E or MEAL functions within the NGO or development sector.
  • Proven experience in developing M&E frameworks, tools, and reporting systems.
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative analysis software (e.g., Excel, KoboToolbox, SPSS, Power BI).
  • High level of integrity and commitment to organizational values.

  • Proficiency in digital data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, etc.).
