Dr Edore Akpokodje

Dr. Edore Akpokodje has a PhD in Computer Science from Aberystwyth University. He was the pioneer Head of the Computer Science and Statistics department of the Federal College of Animal Health and Production Technology, Vom.

He is presently a Lecturer of Computer Science at Aberystwyth University, Wales, United Kingdom, where he leads the Aber Agri-Health Data Science Group, conducting interdisciplinary research at the interface of agriculture, ecosystems, animal health, and human well-being. His work harnesses mobile technologies, web development, data science, artificial intelligence (AI), and sensor technologies to enhance sustainable agriculture, environmental monitoring, and digital health within a One Health and planetary health framework.

His research focuses on developing intelligent, data-driven systems that bridge environmental and human health. He served as Principal Investigator on the Innovate UK–funded Environmental Monitoring of Welsh Agricultural Catchments (2024–2025), which developed sensor-based frameworks for monitoring nutrient and pollutant runoff across Welsh farming systems. He is a Co-Investigator on STREAMS (Space Tech for River Environments and Agricultural Monitoring Sensors, 2025–2027), advancing space and biosensor technologies for water quality monitoring.

As Principal Investigator on DeepDetect (2025, Welsh Government), he led the development of an AI-powered mobile diagnostic tool for early potato disease detection. He is also the Principal Investigator on the KidneyWise project (2025), funded by the Hywel Dda University Health Board UK, an AI chatbot system providing personalised exercise and psychological support for kidney patients.

Through these initiatives, his work advances Agri-Health Informatics, integrating technology and data to support resilient, sustainable, and health-aligned ecosystems.

He is a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) of the United Kingdom , Member of the Nigerian Computer Society and a life member of the Full Gospel Business Men’s International (FGBMFI).
